Latoya
My name is Latoya Albert and I am fourteen years old. I live in Jilkminggan. I like it here, I like going fishing at Little Djembere. Back in the old days, the old people used to call Jilkminggan, Djembere or Duck Creek. They used to live out here before at Old Elsey Station and this place where we got our community now .
When I grow up I want to work in a hospital as midwife to help people have their babies. In some hospitals they don’t have Aboriginal midwives and they need them. Somtimes Aboriginal ladies have their first babies and they get scared because they need someone who can speak to them in their own language.
